Mashpilot ™ 3 Vessel HERMS Pilot Brewery Series
The Mashpilot is a traditional 3 vessel, 2 tier HERMS brewery. Intended as a small scale pilot series for commercial operations, the brewery series are custom made to order.

There are two models of brewery, the G-Series(all LPG fired) and E-Series (Electric HLT / Gas fired Kettle).

  • They have the following features as standard -
Stainless steel frame, with tipping trays for both mashtun and kettle for extremely easy emptying and cleaning, normally without it being necessary to remove the vessels at all. The vessels are attached to the tipping frames, the frames themselves are removeable in seconds if required.
  • All stainless vessels with lids
  • March 809 PL-HS magnetic drive pump
  • Stainless steel industry standard cam-lock fittings
  • Sightglass on the HLT
  • Electric version HLT is fitted with float switch to protect element from burnout.
  • Full bore stainless steel ball valves
  • 1/2" food grade silicon hosing
  • 30 plate Stainless steel plate heat exchanger/s
  • Dial thermometers in HERMS coil outlet, heat exchanger outlet and Mashtun.
  • Easily replaceable Taste and odour water filter for all incoming water.
  • Adjustable feet to suit un-even surfaces, or castors for ease of moving (choose your preference)
  • Removeable copper HERMS coil in HLT
  • Insulated mashtun fitted with our unique wort return dish and bottom draining fitting/perforated stainless false bottom
  • Kettle fitted with pickup tube, & hopscreen, also whirlpool inlet and dial thermometer.
  • High pressure burner/s and LPG regulator supplied (fits standard POL 9kg LPG bottle, not supplied)
  • All breweries supplied with a stainless mash-paddle.
  • Complete, ready to use brewing solution, simply connect to water, electricity and gas and start brewing.

G-Series (LPG Hot Liquor Tank)

With this model the Hot Liquor Tank is manually (needle valve) controlled LPG gas fired, fitted with dial thermometer - it is not insulated, as the open flame makes this not possible, however the LPG gas with it's quicker heating time provides the means to make quick easy adjustments to temperature as & when required so the insulation isn't required. The gas supply for both burners on the frame (HLT & Kettle) run from the same bottle with a higher capacity regulator, so only one bottle is required.
The frame is single level, with the mashtun on the left, kettle on the right and HLT in the centre. Because everything is on the same level, two pumps are utilised to move liquids around the brewery as required.
The G-Series has the advantages of not requiring a special electricity circuit (requires electricity only for the pump/s), and having faster heat up times than the electric models - meaning that it's possible to take a bit of time off the brewday.

E-Series (Electric Hot Liquor Tank) (pictured above)

This model's Hot Liquor Tank is fitted with an electric element .
The HLT has a digital controller with highly visible display, it's simply a matter of setting the temperature that you need and the controller will reach that temperature and switch off the power supply to the element - and then switch on and off as required to maintain that temperature with no more attention required from you. The electric HLT is fitted with a float switch that prevents power being supplied to the element unless it is covered with water - so no boiling it dry…and is also fitted with insulation so the water will heat faster, and lose less heat than an un-insulated vessel. E-Series breweries require a circuit relative to the element size. A standard domestic household plug is 10 amp, the 50 litre system will normally run on this, however an electrician can further advise on your situation as yours may be different depending on other appliances.
The configuration of the E-Series vessels is; HLT on the left on the raised tier, mashtun underneath & the kettle on the right, both on the same level (as pictured above).
The Kettle on the E-series is still gas fired so it is quick to come to the boil and is capable of a good vigorous boil, which is very important for mash brewing.

The advantages of the E-Series?

  • Set and forget temperature in the HLT, it's also possible to set the HLT on a timer (not supplied) to be hot and ready to go when required on the brewday.
  • Less LPG use, electricity is more economical and easily controlled.
  • Smaller footprint @ 1200mm long x 600mm deep.
