The 'Falsie' Tun Bottom Screen

Constructed with perforated stainless sheet, with 2mm perforations for good clear runoff .

Designed specifically to fit in the bottom of the average 25 litre (or larger) esky cooler, it has a 12mm (1/2") pickup tube in one end that draws from close to the mash-tun floor to minimise dead space, and is easy to rinse clean. The shape allows even draw from the grain bed including the sides, at the same time ensuring that the screen doesn't move or lift during the mash. Supplied with a removeable stainless plate bottom for use in vessels that don't have a perfectly flat bottom
(as pictured in the left hand image).

This 50mm cylinder shaped screen keeps hops in the kettle where they belong, preventing them from entering your plate chiller and causing a blockage. The actual screen is made entirely of stainless steel, and has two 'connection' options available depending on whether you are happy to use brass in your system or prefer only to use stainless.

• standard with 1/2" BSPMale thread that will screw directly into a 1/2" BSP Female thread, supplied with a chrome plated brass compression fitting to allow it to be fitted to 1/2" tube (12.7mm).
  Please note - This brass option is not suitable for use with harsh cleaners, as they may react with the brass or the chrome coating.
  Some sanitisers may also contain ingredients that are unsuitable for use with brass.
  
• deluxe with a modified twin ferrule 316 stainless compression fitting suited to attach directly to our s-bend pickup tube (fitted during construction) or other 1/2" (12.7mm outside diameter) straight metal tubing. This option is fully stainless, and is suitable for use with most commercial grade cleaning and sanitising solutions, including caustic soda, citric acid, phosphoric acid.

The hopscreen is available by itself or paired with the appropriate pickup tube to match.
Please note that the male thread presented on the deluxe screen when the nut is unscrewed is not standard BSP thread, and cannot be screwed into a female 1/2"BSP fitting. It is a special thread matched to the compression nut and ferrules it is supplied with. If you wish to screw the hopscreen into a female BSP fitting, please purchase the standard hopscreen as is presents a standard male BSP tapered thread. Please also be aware that when a deluxe screen is fitted to the pickup tube, it must be bent up with the nut already on as the nut & ferrules fit too closely to make it around the bend in the tube after bending. Therefore it is recommended to purchase the deluxe hopscreen as a set, as it will not be possible to fit the deluxe screen to a pickup tube later unless you are able to bend the tube yourself or are fitting it to a piece of straight tube.

Mash Liquor Return Dish

When recirculating mash liquor or sparging a mash, it's important to make sure that the liquid doesn't disturb the mash bed when entering the mash. This adjustable height return dish sits in the top of the mash, gently overflowing the liquor into the mash without disturbing the bed, and at the same time allows you to observe the clarity of the returning liquor.
